Glad you asked! Let me add everyone 🙌

Michaeline added 13 research assistants to the conversation.
Hi! I’m Michaeline, the lab’s director 👋 I study how social contexts, especially parents and culture, shape adolescent development.

Michaeline earned her Ph.D. in Psychology in 2016 from Arizona State University, and completed her Bachelor's at the University of Arizona in 2008. Her research focuses on the role of social contexts in adolescent development, with an emphasis on using novel tools to understand the parent-child relationship and the cultural environments within which these relationships are embedded.

Hi, I am Greg! I am a Pediatric Psychology Intern at Nationwide Children's Hospital and sixth-year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. candidate at UNC Greensboro.

I am a Pediatric Psychology Intern at Nationwide Children's Hospital and sixth-year Clinical Psychology Ph.D. candidate at UNC Greensboro. My research focuses on youth development at the intersection of digital technology use, sexual and gender minority health, social relationships, and health risk behaviors. Clinically, I specialize in gender-affirming care of children and adolescents with a particular focus on chronic illnesses and adolescent substance misuse.

Hi! I’m Karina. I study parent–child communication in immigrant families, and how technology can help (or hurt) families living apart.

Karina Seebaluck, B.A., is a graduate student in UNCG’s clinical psychology Ph.D. program. She completed her B.A.’s in Psychology & Spanish Language and Literature with minors in Nonprofit Studies and Cognitive Science at North Carolina State University. Her specific research interests involve parent-child relationships and communication in the context of immigrant families, acculturation, and how technology can help/hurt parent-child dyads living apart. Karina aspires to both research and provide culturally-sensitive interventions for underserved youth and parents. Outside of research, Karina enjoys working out, cooking new recipes, spending time with her family, and reading.

Hey, I’m Jasper! I’m curious how loneliness, social connection, and AI chatbots relate to mental health and well-being 🤖

Jasper Ying, M.A. is a graduate student in UNCG’s Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program. He completed his B.A.s in Psychology and Philosophy at Boston College in 2021. As a William Wilsoncroft Awardee, he graduated from California State University, Northridge’s Psychological Science M.A. program in 2025 where he was a graduate research assistant for the REACH Lab mentored by Dr. Sara R. Berzenski, and the SPADE Lab under the primary mentorship of Dr. Abraham M. Rutchick. His specific research interests include the roles/influences of social connection/disconnection (e.g., loneliness) and interactive technology usage (particularly large-language-model artificial intelligence) on psychopathology and well-being across the lifespan/groups. As an aspiring clinician and research scientist, Jasper’s goal is to further relevant clinical and developmental understandings as to how sociality and technologies function within and affect dynamic human ecologies.
