Introduction to Clinical Psychology 
​PSY 275

​This course focuses on defining and surveying the field of clinical psychology.  The course will discuss the many roles of clinical psychologists, including research, assessment, and intervention.  We will discuss approaches clinical psychologists use in assessment and intervention, with emphasis on empirically based practices.

Ethnicity, Development, and Psychopathology PSY 370

This course focuses on the ways in which race. ethnicity, and culture manifest within child development. The course will encourage critical thinking about a broad variety of topics related to child and adolescent development within cultural contexts.

Practicum- Diversity PSY 741

Students receive focused didactic instruction that directly supports their practicum training in the UNCG Psychology Clinic in relation to diversity and cultural competence. Demonstrating increased awareness, knowledge, and skills regarding the process of conducting assessment and intervention within a multicultural context is a key objective for this course.

Developmental Psychopathology of Substance Use  PSY 735J

This advanced graduate seminar draws upon and integrates content relevant to substance use and abuse across developmental, cognitive, and biological bases of behavior. Content considers diagnostic issues, changes in substance use behaviors over historical time, risk and protective factors in trajectories of substance use, physiological effects of substances, prevention, treatment, and recovery.
